Patti Garcia was born and raised on Kansas City’s Westside. As one of twelve siblings, she was raised in a family filled with love and laughter, and by parents whom she adored. Patti found her life partner, Bob Garcia, in 1967. The two married and together moved to Westwood, Kansas where they raised four children who attended St. Agnes. As a parishioner of St. Agnes for over fifty years, Patti founded Our Lady of Guadalupe Altar Society, a group she held near and dear to her heart until her passing.
Patti constantly found ways to uplift those around her and to make the good times even better. Whether it was giving to people in need, making the holidays special for her ten grandchildren, or lending a helping hand in her community, she exuded love and generosity in all aspects of her life and never sought recognition for her kindness or expected anything in return.
Patti was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2015 but never let her diagnosis change her attitude towards life. She continued to create cherished moments with those she loved, her spirit still vibrant, remaining the first to hit the dance floor at every party.
We said goodbye to our beautiful matriarch in March 2022. She imparted invaluable lessons about life, family, and the importance of being a good person to each of us. Our family carries her with us every single day, and we are so proud to continue her legacy through the Patti Garcia Scholarship Fund.
